The Management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has said it will fully comply with the Federal Government’s directive to suspend the new electricity tariff hike.
This is following the joint communique issued by the Federal Government and the Labor Unions, where FG agreed that the recent new tariff be suspended by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to give room for further consultation and finalization of negotiations by both parties.
According to a statement signed by Ibrahim Sani Shawai, the Head of Corporate Communications KEDCO, the 14-day suspension of the tariff is to take place from Sept. 28 to Oct 11, 2020
Furthermore, the order added that prepaid customers who purchased electricity tokens from today will receive value based on the old tariff while post-paid customers will see the value of the old tariff reflected on their next bill.
Also, customers who have migrated to the new tariff will need to load a key-change token on their meter to enable them activate their meters for the updated tariff before loading their token units.
Customers can request for a key-change token through our customer care portal- customercare.kedco.ng or visit nearest KEDCO offices or call 070055551111
However, customers who have not migrated to the new tariff should go ahead and buy units and load as they do not need to generate a key-change token.
“KEDCO is committed to the course of ensuring that our customers across Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states that they shall continue to benefit from all incentives or directives given by the Authorities in a timely and equitable manner.
In this regard, customers should continue to enjoy the improvement in supply as we will continue to ensure sustained improvement in the quality of service delivery.” The statement reads.
