A Bauchi based contractor Adamu Ahmad, has debunked allegation by former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Yakubu Dogara that Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State was awarding contracts to family and friends in violation of due process.
Adamu, who is the Managing Director of Imperial Synergy Limited, a company that was awarded a contract of N30 million to construct a hospital in the state, spoke with journalists in Bauchi.
He described Dogara’s allegation as false claiming he and several other contractors handling projects in the state had never met the governor in person and were given contracts based on merit.
He urged Dogara to be sincere in his criticism of the state government as the people of the state appreciate the good work the governor has been doing since assumption of office.
The contractor said he found Dogara’s allegation laughable and a ploy to cause disaffection among the people of the state who have been happy with infrastructures that the administration has brought to them within a short time.
Dogara has become a fierce critic of Governor Mohammed’s administration since he famously dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress after helping to install the administration of Mohammed.
The former speaker cited a lack of respect, awarding contract to families and cronies without due process and other reasons that bothered on good governance for dumping the PDP and the governor.
But Ahmad, who urged the governor not to be distracted by renewed criticism from Dogara’s camp, said the allegation by the former Speaker is a calculated effort to mislead the people of the state.
“Dogara is wrong. My company Khadah Imperial Synergy Limited, a general construction company which is recognised and has carried out several successful construction contracts for the World Bank, the State Rural Water Supply , that is RUWASSA and water board among several others bided for the contract and was selected out of several others.
“The governor awarded my company the contract within three months of his coming to power precisely October 2019 and due process was followed. In other words I got the job on merit and we are at the advanced stage of the work,. It is a hospital with theatre, consulting room for doctors. I have never met the governor in person and he does not know who I am. If he comes to where I am today he doesn’t know me and won’t know who I am. That is why I feel sad and compelled to come out and debunk the statement by Dogara that the state governor is awarding contracts to family and friends.
“I know of are over 100 companies since the coming of this administration that have got contracts in the area of housing, hospital, road construction among others. I can prove to you that none of these companies’ owners or management staff know the governor personally They who bided and got the contracts To the best of my knowledge , none of us had a personal relationship with the governor”
“My advice to Dogara is for him to think of what concrete legacy he is leaving for the people of Bauchi state because he has been in politics since 1999 and has benefit immensely and for us whatever position that Dogara will hold at the national level be it vice President may not benefit the people of the state
He explained that Dogara’s criticism of the current administration is a distraction and not going to benefit the state in anyway.
“Dogara fought the immediate past Governor Mohammed Abubakar all through his tenure and just a year of the coming of the current governor Dogara is picking holes in his administration. Human beings are either good or bad and if Dogara means well he won’t be attacking the governor.
“I called on my governor who has no rival in the state not to reply any critic because those like Dogara attacking him are only envious of his track record in politics and I know God will continue to uplift him. Because he has performed so well so far and we do not want him to be distracted by unsubstantiated criticism and allegations “
