Vigilante operatives in Issele Uku Community, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State at the weekend arrested seven Kidnap Suspects allegedly terrorizing the area in recent times.
Confirming the arrest of the Suspects to Journalists in the area, the Chairman, Issele Uku Community Vigilante group, Mr Nduka’ Obunwa said that the arrested Suspects clearly showed they were Fulani herdsmen allegedly behind the recent Kidnap cases and destruction of Crops in farms in the area, disclosing that men of the vigilante group acting on Intelligence gathering responded to a distress call from members of the community to swing into action and arrested the Seven Kidnap Suspects.
He said,” Upon interrogation, the Suspects Confessed to the crime and they were handed over to the police at the Issele Uku Police Division for further investigation, we are calling for and useful information about the Operations of the suspected herdsmen, We will do everything possible to ensure the safety of the people”.
But the Police Commissioner in the state Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah who Confirmed this incident to our Correspondent in Asaba, said that investigation was ongoing on the Suspects whom he added were helping the police in detention.
Meanwhile, a middle-aged man ( name withheld) who was reported to have fallen from a storey building under construction in Oleh in Isoko South Local Government Area of the state, has died in a private hospital where he was receiving medical attention.
Eyewitness, Felix John said that the incident occurred on Friday evening as the victim hailed from Ogwashi Uku Community, adding that the storey building belongs to one of the members of Ogwashi Uku Community’s traditional cabinet as on a fateful day the victim a skilled Carpenter felt determined to accomplish his set target.
He said that as the victim tried to come down in the dark upstairs on the building, he miscalculated his steps and fell from the height of the storey building to a block of concrete on the ground as the noise of him falling attracted the whole neighbourhood who immediately rushed him to the hospital in a state of Coma, bleeding profusely from his ears and nose, unfortunately, he was unable to survive as he was later Confirmed dead at about 1100 pm after all medical treatments failed to save his life
In a swift reaction, the Police Commissioner in the state, Inuwah said that the victim died in the hospital as a result of the injuries he sustained from the storey building when he fell during his attempt to save himself from missing his steps.
