A coalition of health stakeholders, under the aegis of International Society of Media in Public Health ( ISMPH) has urged the state governmnet to declared state of emergency on malnutrion to safe guard untimely death of innocent children who were being affected .
According to a communique jointly signed at a 2 -day programme, held at Tahir Guest Palace and presented by Mrs. Moji Makanjuola, Executive Director ISMPH and Auwal Ibrahim Musa, Executive Director (CISLAC) said Management of Acute Malnutrition Centres (CMAM) have run out of stock Ready To Used Therapy Food (RUTF) used in the cure of the disease .
The group decried that the CMAM Centres in Kano since February 2019 has stopped giving out RUTF drugs to malnutrished children in the state and this led to untimely death of many children.
Makanjuola alleged that the unnavailabiity of RUTF has exposed thousands of Children to early death from malnutrition and other Child killer diseases.
She noted that Kano State government must act hurriedly to stop the death of children through preventable diseases .
The communique however appealed to Northern state governments to urgently arrest the prevelance of Child killer diseases in their various state.
The statement explained that cases of Children from is increasing at an alarming rate in Northern states.
The communique however urged the state government to priotise the full implementation of the National Health Act 2014 calling the state House of Assemblies to strengthen their special committees with focus on nutrition issues to step up their role in the fight agencies Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM).
