There was pandemonium on Tuesday at the National Assembly as protesting Shiite members stormed the Assembly around 2 pm while plenary was ongoing.

Two of the policemen injured by members of Islamic sect Shiites have been referred to the National Hospital for immediate medical attention from the National Assembly Clinic.

One of them, soaked in blood, was badly beaten by the rampaging Shi’ite members.

He was gasping by the time the vehicle that took him to the National Hospital arrived.

Another policeman, who had a bullet lodged in his thigh, was waiting to be taken to the National Hospital.

“It was not a local gun, it was AK47,” he told his concerned colleagues.

It was gathered that four policemen attached to the National Assembly were gunned down by Shi’ites.

Recall that the Shi’ite group has been protesting the detention of their leader, El Zaky Zaky over the years.

According to an eye witness, members of the Islamic group began coming into the National Assembly premises in pieces before they gathered into a sizeable number.

The group eventually overpowered security men at the first gate but met with resistance at the second where four policemen were shot by armed members of the group.

Meanwhile, some of the violent protesters have been arrested by security operatives.

Details later…
