KEDCO to begin sale of prepaid metres as it partners with Shell Foundation to Invest $2bn

 

The Kano Electricity Distribution Company, KEDCO is going to commence the sale of prepaid metres to the general public next month to arrest the customers complains of undue billing through the old system.

This was made known to public by the Managing Director of the company in Kano, Dr Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna while inaugurating 170 new 500 KVA Transformers for the three franchise areas of Katsina, Kano and Jigawa states.

He explained that the prepaid metres are going to be of two categories with the three phases metre to cost N69,000 and the one phased metre N37,000 both of which would be acquired from the Metre Assets Providers unit of the company.

Other items launched include Operational Facilities, 60 buses, cars, ambulances and other facilities.

Gwamna also said that the company is partnering with Shell Foundation which is Investing $2 Billion in the Company in the next three years.

He said the investment of the Shell Foundation is aimed at boosting the services of the company.

The Managing Director said they inherited a dilapidated system of power supply which required huge investments and over the last five years they have invested billions of Naira in enhancing power supply to customers.

He called on the customers to reciprocate the services being rendered by the company by endeavoring to pay their bills accordingly.

He explained that in the next few weeks they would launch the selling of meters in their franchise areas of Kano, Katsina and Jigawa urging anybody wishing to have one to pay upfront in their offices across the states.

The MD added that with the way they are going KEDCO would soon be one of the best distribution company in the whole of the federation while commending the staff for their diligence.
