The emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II on Tuesday led the prayer at the main Eid ground in the state to mark the end of month of Ramadan in which Muslims observe momth-long fast.
Among the worshippers that attended the eid ground, located at Kofar Mata in the state metropolis was governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of the state, who is reportedly at loggerheads with emir Sanusi.
Recall that the governor, on May 8 appointed four additional first class emirates of Bichi, Gaya, Karaye and Rano, decision that some quotas see as a move to whittle the power of Sanusi for allegedly working against Ganduje during the March 23 re-run election.
PLATINUM POST reports that rumours were making the round that Ganduje would rather observe the eid prayer in Bichi local government, one of the new emirates created by the governor.
However, Ganduje and his entourage made a surprise appearance at the eid ground where he joined thousands of worshippers in the prayer led by emir Sanusi.
This newspaper reports that picture of Ganduje and Sanusi in warm handshake had gone viral on social media as the duo exchanged pleasantries while smiling at each other.
Meanwhile, in his sermon shortly after the prayer, the Emir advocated for the rights of the girl-child to education.
He urged political leaders at all levels to give priority to female education as they did with their male counterparts.
“The people need to prioritise their commitment toward the education of female just like their male counterpart,” he said.
He underscored the need for Nigerians to also continue to pray for peace and progress of the state and the country at large.
The monarch also urged Muslims to fear God in all their activities, reminding them that each and every one of them must give an account of his or her deeds hereafter.
Besides, the Emir called on the people of the state to continue to pray against banditry, kidnapping and other vices.
He admonished Kano people to support each other and work as a team for the overall development of the state.
Among those that attended the prayer at the Kofar Mata Central Eid ground were Kano State Deputy Governor , Alhaji Nasiru Gawuna, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji and other government officials.
