Suspended federal varsity VC files petition to Kano industrial court

 

The Federal Industrial Court, sitting in Kano State on Thursday received a complain filed in by Professor Haruna Abdullahi Kaita, the suspended Vice Chancellor of Federal University Dutsinma.

Prime Time News reports that the petition was submitted by Kaita’s counsel, Jaafaru Abbas Ibrahim.

Briefing journalists shortly after the court proceedings, Barrister Ibrahim said they registered the complained against the Federal University Dutsenma for violating an injunction issued by the industrial court which ruled that all the parties should maitained status quo.

According to him, the university’s management however defied the court’s injuction and went ahead to appointing a new acting Vice Chancellor.

He added that the committee set to investigate professor Kaita (claimant) countinued with the investigation and even submitted their report despite the court order.

Delivering the ruling on the status quo, Justice Ebeye David Eseimo of the court granted the complain registraterd by the claimant.

In the sipirit of accelerated hearing, the judge adjourned the case to 24th June, 2019 to present written documents on the court order and evidence of violating the order by the management of university.

Recall that the embattled Kaita was suspended over two years ago by the authorities of Federal University Dutsinma over allegations of misconduct.

Kaita was accused of allegedly granting contracts to his son, allegations that he denied and challenged it in Federal High Court, Kaduna State, but the case was stroke out, situation that promoted him to file fresh case at the Federal Industrial Court, Kano.
