Kano State government said it will spend the sum of N30 million as dowry to the 1,500 couples for another batch of Mass Wedding Scheme.
The wedding, according to a statement Saturday by Abba Anwar, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State would take place on Sunday, May 5 across the 44 local government areas of the state.
The sum of N20,000 would be given as dowry to each of the 1,500 groom to paid to his woulde-be-bride, making it the whopping N30 million.
The statement further disclosed that a complete set of furniture would be served to each of the 1,500 brides, adding that “the gesture would go a long way in serving as relief for the couples after the proper marriage takes place.”
“Newly clothing materials, popularly called ‘Shadda’ would be provided for all the would-be husbands, so that they appear as happily wedded Grooms, showcasing their happiness to families, friends and well wishers,” the statement read in part
“It could be recalled that, a special committee was raised to find ways for an organised mass wedding exercise.
Under the main committee there were other sub-committees, like Medical sub-committee that shouldered the responsibility of making sure that diligent medical screening takes place, with the view to having couples who fit themselves medically,” said the statement.
“the event was thoroughly and keenly screened before reaching to this final stage of the proper wedding,” it added.
