Federal Road Safety Corps on Friday confirmed death of 16 persons in a road crash at a village, Tukui, in Dambatta local government area of Kano state.
A statement by FRSC Kano Spokesman Kabir Ibrahim Daura on Friday said the incident involved three cars.
It said the accident which occurred at about 7.30 pm with the three cars, a VW Golf, Peugeot 406 and Honda Accord , according to the statement , two of the vehicles were on top speed and had a head on collision while the driver of the Honda car , the only survivor ran into them.
It said the FRSC rescue team arrived at the scene of the accident not quite ten minutes after it occurred.
‘’The corpses and the injured were later taken to Dambatta General Hospital,’’ said the statement.
The statement noted that N579,000 and 10,000 CFA Niger Republic currency were recovered by the rescue team of the police and FRSC which will be handed over to relations of the owner when identified later.
It added that the Golf car was said to have taken off from Daura in Katsina state and heading to Kano while the 406 was coming from Kano.
